Workshop 3.2 Make a reversible beach bag

Last night we had the final 'reversible beach bag' tutorial. I was little ashamed of showing the ladies the sample of what they would be making as I have been using it everyday of the holidays and it is getting grubby! But what a useful bag it is!

The ladies worked hard and completed their bags with ease. It is lovely to see how their confidence is growing and I found that I had very little to do...perhaps I will soon be able to complete my own project on a workshop evening.

We talked of up and coming workshops so this morning I'm dreaming of 'advent calendars' and 'Christmas gifts' ideas!

Thank you Lj for the yummy crunchie cakes you made for Mummy's workshop.

'Greatest shop ever'

MJ has been asking if we can have a real shop. I have been telling him that we can when he is on school holidays. So the school holidays have arrived and we are having a lot of fun. For me that had a lot to do with the amazing run of weather we are having, for MJ it is because he is on holidays.

Today was the day for trying out our little shop. The 'greatest shop ever' shop. (Named by MJ) We popped into town for supplies this morning, came back for lunch and started to get organised.

We covered our play trolley with a cloth and bunting, made a sign and got our cash register together, filled our cool box with ice lollies, drinks and sweets and headed for the park.

MJ really surprised me with how confident he was to walk up to people and tell them about what we were selling. I found myself praying that we would get some customers just so he wouldn't be disappointed.

There weren't lots of people at the park but thankfully there were some generous dad's with their kids and so we sold enough that we could leave happy.

Tonight the kids fell into bed exhausted so I have to wait till tomorrow to  reflect with MJ on how we did today.

My first post using my new phone...i think it would have been quicker to turn on the laptop!

Another hot and sunny day :)

It seems unbelievable that these hot and sunny days would continue for so long...but I love it and hope we at least get a few more weeks of cloudless skies.

Today we are...

having a picnic in the shade.

posting some finished  'England inspired' bunting off to Canada

and having a try at making a dress from my Mum's 1980's dress pattern.

Workshop 3.1 Make a reversible beach bag

Last nights first workshop on 'Make a reversible beach bag' was SO rewarding. The ladies pride in their finished bags was really fun to see. For a beginner sewer it is quite hard to get your head around how to sew a bag together so it forms the final 3D form. But following simple step by step instructions it is all revealed at the very end. A truly fun evening. Thanks ladies for your hard work and the delight you displayed on your faces as you turned your almost finished bag in the right way. Well done.

Today at the allotment

On the hottest day of the year so far, we found ourselves at the allotment. Thankfully I brought my camera and the kids had fun taking some shots while M and I did the chores!

Picking large juicy strawberries...

and watering the fruit and veg.

The reward was good. We harvested lots of strawberries, a few broad beans, two beetroot and a few spinach leaves.

And on the way home M and I carried the produce and the scooters while the kids carried a stick!

Happy 30th birthday, Corrie.

A belated 'happy birthday' to my little sis.
It has been a busy week for us. We had a friend from Australia come and stay for a few days and we looked after our niece while the birthday girl and hubby celebrated her 30th together. By the end of the week we are all tired and a tad grumpy!
So although I would love to crawl back into bed with a good book and wave the kids and hubby goodbye for the day... we have strawberries to pick and vegetables to be watered at the allotment and plans to catch up with friends.
It's the weekend, the sun is shining...so let's get going!

Workshop 2.3 Make pretty bunting

Last night I had the final of three workshops on 'Make summer bunting'. It was a warm evening and Andy Murray was playing in the Semi finals of Wimbledon but we still managed to make some beautiful bunting! Well done ladies and well done Andy!
